Fire caused by meth lab in motel bathroom

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police are investigating a meth lab fire that happened early Tuesday morning around 2:30 a.m. It happened at the Crossland Economy Suites in Baton Rouge, off West Boardwalk Drive, near South Sherwood Forest Blvd and N. Harrells Ferry Road.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said a shower curtain caught fire and set off the sprinklers Tuesday morning and that is when the Baton Rouge Fire Department responded. Moderate damage was reported in the room where the fire and the meth lab was found.

Officials say there have been no arrests and no injuries reported and there was no one at the scene when the meth lab was found.

McKneely says the motel personnel didn't know much about the situation, but they may know who was in the room.

Officials would like anyone with information about this fire to call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
