BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) -
Two people were killed Monday when their vehicles collided head on in Bossier Parish.
Louisiana State Patrol Troop G Investigators say the crash happened about 3 p.m. on Bellevue Road at Parker Road.
Their preliminary investigation reveals that a 2001 Honda Odyssey driven by Kaitlin Smith, 17, of Haughton, was traveling south on Bellevue Road when she entered a curve "at a high rate of speed and lost control of her vehicle."
Smith's car then left the roadway and she over-corrected, causing her car to re-enter the roadway, cross the center line, and hit a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by Eddie La Croix, 43, head-on, Troopers say.
Smith and La Croix were wearing seatbelts during the crash but suffered fatal injuries, Troopers say, adding that there were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Troopers say excessive speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash. They took toxicology samples for analysis as their investigation continues.
