Port Allen under investigation by state auditor's office

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Louisiana Legislative Auditor's Office has started an investigation into Port Allen.

Darryl Purpera with the state auditor's office says a team from the investigative audit division was at Port Allen City Hall Monday for several hours.

9News has been told one of the issues they're looking into is Mayor Deedy Slaughter's trip to Washington, DC at the city's expense.

Purpera says the investigation could last several weeks and if necessary, his office will issue a report on their findings.
