For the second time in three weeks LSU first baseman Mason Katz has been named SEC and Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week.
In leading the Tigers to wins against Tulane and a sweep of Missouri, Katz batted .611, including a double, triple, three homers, 12 RBI and five runs scored.
Katz is hitting .352 this season with four doubles, one triple, nine home runs and 32 RBI. He leads the SEC in home runs, RBI and total bases (58).
LSU is currently ranked number two in the week's Collegiate Baseball Poll and number three in the Baseball America Poll.
The Tigers return to action with non-conference games Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at home vs. Alcorn State, and Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Zephyr Field in Metairie vs. Southern Mississippi. LSU hosts Kentucky (21-6, 6-3) next weekend in SEC play.
