BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Some worshippers got their Easter weekend services under way Friday by participating in the annual Way of the Cross in Baton Rouge.
The group gathered at St. Joseph Cathedral for the 14 Stations of the Cross, following Jesus' path to the crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.
Participants walked the cross from the cathedral around the grounds of the Louisiana Capitol.
"It actually looks a little bigger this year," said David Aguillard with Catholic Charities. "I don't know if it's the weather. It could very well be the influence of the new Pope Francis. He has really emphasized the fact that our Catholic faith should call us and motivate us to do things in our world."
The community event put on by St. Joseph Church and Catholic Charities drew out more than 300 people.
