Armed robber pays for gas before robbing store

WALKER, LA (WAFB) -

According to Walker Police, the search is on for a man who robbed the Shell/Express 1 Stop Wednesday night.

According to police reports, the suspect went into the gas station just off I-12 on Walker South Road just after 8 p.m. and purchased gasoline. He went back to his vehicle and pumped the gas.

After fueling his pickup truck, he went back into the convenience store to the checkout counter. The clerk asked if he needed a receipt and the man pulled out a handgun from his pocked and demanded the money in the cash register.

The cashier followed the instructions and the man ran to his vehicle and left the scene and drove towards the interstate.

No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect is described as an older white male of medium height and slim build with a beard. He was last seen wearing a red and blue, front button shirt and a tan cowboy hat. He is believed to have been driving a dark blue or black full-sized Chevrolet pickup truck with Texas plates.

Police continue to investigate this robbery. Anyone with information concerning this robbery is asked to contact Walker Police at 225-664-3125 or call Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
