NEW ORLEANS, LA (WWL) -

Police are looking for the man who robbed a 72-year-old woman while she was praying in church Wednesday afternoon.

According to WWL, the crime happened at St. Dominic Church in Lakeview around 4:30 p.m. Val Cupit, head of the area Crimewatch, said the suspect walked up behind the elderly woman and demanded cash. Cupit added the woman handed over about $27 and never looked at the robber's face.

The victim was inside the church alone at the time, while two maintenance men worked outside in the back.

Although the robber did not show a weapon and the victim was not harmed, the idea criminals don't consider any place sacred is chilling for parishioners.
