19 Action News has learned of sweeping changes to be announced Monday in the 911 system across Cuyahoga County.
Under the plan, 44 places handling 911 calls will be reduced to four, and one of the main stations now is expected to be in Broadview Heights.
The goal is consolidate services, and county leaders believe technological advances have made it possible for just a few dispatchers to handle calls quickly countywide.
Cuyahoga County currently has a dispatch center downtown that handles cell phone calls and other emergency communications.
Monday, County Executive Ed FitzGerald's office is expected to reveal how it will all work, as well as the timetable for phasing in the new system.
