Zippity Zoo Fest

Louisiana is the festival capital of the world, and this festival won't disappoint! BREC's Baton Rouge Zoo hosts its annual Zippity Zoo Fest with events and exhibits fun for the entire family, designed to connect people with animals. This event is held in celebration of the zoo's grand opening on Easter Sunday in 1970.

Saturday April 6 and Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Admission to the zoo allows you access to all festivities that weekend.

Events/Exhibits:

Live Animal Shows: Held at Wildlife Safari Amphitheater at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

EdZOOcation Center: Also at Wildlife Safari Amphitheater, this exhibit allows kids to get up-close to some feathered, slimy, scaly and furry friends. Zoo Educators will be on hand to answer all your animal questions.

Photo Contest: Visit the education building to see the winning photos from this year's photo contest sponsored by The Advocate. Winners of the contest will be announced during Zippity Zoo Fest.

Children's Village: Features a giant, inflatable obstacle course and an art display of recycled materials created by students at Glasgow Middle School.

Expedition BREC: New this year in the Children's Village, learn about the variety of recreational outdoor activities BREC is hosting! Great opportunity to get passports and plan activities with your family throughout the rest of the year!

AAZK Booth: Visit the Baton Rouge Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers to find out what these amazing zookeepers do to help animals around the world. AAZK is also raising awareness for their national philanthropy, Bowling for Rhinos. All proceeds from the Ring Toss game will go towards this cause.
