WALNUT HILLS, OH (FOX19) -
A shooting in Walnut Hills has taken the life of a young man.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Curtis and St. James Street, near the CVS.
Police say when they arrived they found the victim, Jack Cody, III, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Near the crime scene, several
people said the violent crime is getting out of control, especially with
victims this young.
"I think it's tragic.
I think the youth need to stop killing each other and we just need to come
together as a community," said Bridgit Thigpen, who commutes through Walnut
Hills.
Her reaction was the same as many
passing by the crime scene where Cody was gunned down.
"I feel sympathy for
families, but it's no shock sometimes, you know? Because it's seems like
it's an everyday occurrence," added Walnut Hills resident Haili Giordano.
For one woman who knew Cody, she
spoke highly of the young man he was.
"It's tearing me up inside
because I knew the young guy. He was a very respectful, good, young
guy," said Patience Fuller.
The crime scene has since been
cleared, leaving neighbors with only a plea for the violence to stop.
"To have this youth die here where
people shop and commute, it's a tragedy," added Thigpen.
"Their life is gone, and they
could have done so many things with their life. There's a lot of
opportunities out here for young people, they just got to find them," said
Joanie Griffith, who commutes through Walnut Hills.
"They need to stop the
violence and quit killing each other," said Fuller.
Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) officials say Cody was a
recent graduate of the Life Skills Center vocational school.
