(RNN) - Generator problems caused a nightmare aboard the Carnival Dream two days after the Carnival Cruise Lines announced "comprehensive review" on all of its ships.

According to CNN, passengers said they experienced power outages and overflowing toilets while they docked in the port at Philipsburg, St. Maarten, in the eastern Caribbean.

The ship has been in port since 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

In a statement Carnival said on its Facebook page:

"The Carnival Dream has a technical issue which our engineering team is currently working on. The ship is at dock in St. Maarten. At no time did the ship lose power but there were periodic interruptions to elevators and toilets for a few hours last night. However at this time all hotel systems are functioning normally and have been functional since approximately 12.30 a.m. The ship has full power but is still at dock while personnel continue to work on the technical issue. The Carnival Dream was on a seven-day cruise and is based in Port Canaveral, FL."

Although Carnival hasn't requested assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, they were notified on Thursday that the ship was experiencing  generator issues.

"The Coast Guard does have legal authority to investigate should that be needed at this time but that determination has not been made," said Petty Officer Mark Barney to CNN. "Right now our main concern is for the safety of those folks on the ship that they have the supplies and the systems that they need to be safe and right now all indications from the captain are that those systems are functioning properly."

CNN is reporting that Carnival will fly all of the passengers home.

A month ago, an engine fire on Carnival Triumph left more than 4,000 people adrift in the Gulf of Mexico.
