PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) -
The City of Port Allen appears to be heading towards several investigations into the current governing of the city.
At the city council meeting Wednesday night, a resolution was passed by a vote of 3-2 requesting an investigation by the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office into recent decisions made by Mayor Deedy slaughter.
According to the resolution, those decisions include increasing the mayor's salary without council approval and a trip Mayor Slaughter took to the presidential inauguration that was financed with city funds.
Also at the meeting, Mayor Slaughter announced she had submitted a letter to the U.S. Attorney General requesting an investigation alleging racism within the Port Allen city government.
