BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish casinos will soon be like every other riverboat casino in the state when it comes to alcohol sales.
The East Baton Rouge Metro Council voted 7-4 to allow casinos in East Baton Rouge Parish to sell alcohol 24-hours a day. This applies only to the gaming floor of the casinos.
Currently, casinos can sell alcohol up till 2 a.m. Mondays through Saturday and until 11 p.m. on Sundays.
The new hours will go into effect as soon as Mayor Kip Holden signs off. Mayor Holden is expected to sign off on the item. He has two weeks to sign and if he does not in that time period, the item will then automatically go into effect.
