WALKER, LA (WAFB) - A man arrested for the murder of a Walker man is facing more charges related to the incident.

Detectives say Joshua Mitchell, 23, shot and killed Brandon Steele Parnell in a white van that Parnell had been driving.

According to reports, after Parnell was killed, Mitchell took the van and drove around with two juveniles from the Walker area.  Mitchell continued to use the van for everyday use for the next 10 days.

The owner of the van told detectives that Mitchell didn't have permission to use the van.

Mitchell had previously been convicted of a sex crime in St. Tammany Parish.

He has been charged with second degree murder, two counts of failure to register as a sex offender, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft of a motor vehicle, obstruction of justice and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The body of Parnell was found by a fisherman early March 7th near the Ascension-St. James Parish line.  He had been missing since February 25th.
