BATON ROUGE – After tallying its highest score in a meet since 2008 with a 197.500 against Alabama, the LSU gymnastics team checked in at No. 5 with a 197.055 regional qualifying score (RQS) in the latest GymInfo standings released Monday.
The team RQS is the highest for LSU since March 22, 2004 when the Tigers accumulated a 197.400 RQS.
LSU (9-4) took over the No. 1 spot in the team vault standings with a 49.470 RQS after scoring a 49.600 last week against Alabama, the second-best vault total in school history. The Tigers are ranked fourth on floor at 49.410, seventh on bars at 49.240 and 15th on beam at 49.000.
In the individual rankings, sophomore Rheagan Courville continues to lead the SEC as the highest-ranked all-arounder at No. 4 nationally with a 39.510 RQS. Courville also ranks No. 3 on vault at 9.920, No. 12 on floor at 9.90 and No. 15 on beam at 9.875.
Lloimincia Hall is No. 2 on floor with a 9.935 RQS, and she is the only gymnast in the nation with two 10.0's this season after she posted her second perfect 10 of the year on floor last week against Alabama.
Sarie Morrison is No. 4 on bars with a 9.910 RQS, and Jessica Savona is No. 21 on floor at 9.890.
Oklahoma regained the top spot in the rankings with a 197.570 RQS, followed by Florida at 197.440, Michigan at 197.175, Alabama at 197.125 and LSU. Georgia is No. 6 at 196.985, Utah seventh at 196.940, UCLA eighth at 196.905, Oregon State ninth at 196.790 and Stanford 10th at 196.590.
LSU travels to Raleigh, N.C., to face North Carolina State this week in the final tune-up before the SEC Championship. The Tigers and Wolfpack will square off at 6 p.m. CT Friday inside Reynolds Coliseum, and fans can listen to the meet free of charge in the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net/live.
