Former GA deputy arrested on DUI charges in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A former sheriff's deputy in Georgia is accused of driving drunk in Nashville with a gun.

Police said the driver, Timothy Wayne Bridges, drove past a stop sign and finally stopped for a Metro officer at a downtown bar.

Officers said Bridges had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech when they pulled him over.

Police said Bridges told them the situation was fine because he was a deputy in Georgia.

Bridges was administered a breathalyzer and found to have a blood alcohol level of .13, which is almost twice the legal limit.

Police found a revolver in the glove compartment of the car and discovered that Bridges didn't have a permit to carry the gun.

Eventually Bridges told police he used to be a sheriff's deputy as they took to the Metro Jail.
