Riverside wins 3rd State Championship in 4 years

MONROE, LA (WAFB) - The St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons were defeated by last year's 2A runner-ups in Riverside Academy by a score of 60-49 for the state title. The Falcons proved to have a lot of fight after they came back after being down by 12 points at the half and eventually taking a two point lead early in the fourth quarter. However, that was not enough as Riverside eventually went on an 7-0 run late in the game to take control. Senior forward Cory Costanza of Riverside was too much for the Falcons as he hit three straight three pointers in a minute and a half span in the fourth quarter, which put the Rebels up 54-47. He was named Most Outstanding Player. Riverside head coach Timmy Byrd brings home the schools third State Championship in four seasons.  Vincent Walker led the Falcons with 17 points.
