HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission continues to hear from experts about school security and how the state responds to emergencies.
The focus of the 16-member commission was to review school safety, gun control laws and regulations and mental health issues after Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
The members met at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford Friday.
Presenters from safety agencies showed how to plan for a number of hazards.
The commission is looking to come up with ways to prevent another mass shooting in our state including how to improve the first response.
Some of the items being considered by the commission include:
Mandatory background checks for weapons sales
Mandatory weapons registrations
Prohibiting the sale of ammunition on the Internet.
