GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities said a 47-year-old man died in a fiery single-car
crash early Friday morning.
Louisiana State Police said Benjamin Leboeuf of Gonzales
was killed in the wreck. It happened on LA 941 south of LA 30 in Gonzales a
little before 1 a.m.
Troopers said the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette he was
driving went off the road, into a ditch and hit a driveway embankment. The car
then went airborne and flipped several times before stopping in a private
driveway and catching fire. It remains unknown what caused the car to veer off
the road.
Leboeuf was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators
reported they don't yet know if he was impaired. A sample of his blood was sent
to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. It is also unknown if he
was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
