The first happened around 7:30 a.m., when a wrecker driver pulled onto the interstate towing a car that had broken down. A female driver rear-ended the tow truck and was killed.
The second wreck caused a chain-reaction involving 5 other vehicles, after a van ran into the back of an 18-wheeler that had come to a stop because of traffic back-up from the first wreck.
Officials on the scene of the third wreck say it was a result of traffic being backed up from the second wreck. The driver of the pickup truck did not survive.

BOWIE CO., TX (KSLA) -
It was a harrowing morning for commuters on I30 in Bowie County, Texas, where 2 lives were lost in a total of 3 wrecks between Leary and the Red River Army Depot exit.
The first happened around 7:30 a.m., when a wrecker driver pulled onto the interstate towing a car that had broken down. A female driver rear-ended the tow truck and was killed. Traffic on the interstate came to a halt as a result of that accident. She has been identified as 28-year-old Cherie Burleson of New Boston. The driver of the tow truck and a passenger were not injured.
A short time later and a few miles down the road, 6 cars were involved in a chain-reaction wreck that resulted in one person being seriously injured. That person was airlifted to a local hospital. That wreck began with a van running into the back of an 18-wheeler that had come to a stop because of traffic back-up from the first wreck. His name and condition have not been released.
The third wreck happened a few more miles down the road on I30 near mile marker 205 between Hooks and the Red River Army Depot exit. The driver, identified as 46-year-old Keith Rice of New Boston, did not survive. Officials on the scene say this wreck was a result of traffic being backed up from the second wreck.
All 3 wrecks took place within four miles of each other, all within an hour. I30 has since been cleared and reopened.
