Madison Prep punishes Simsboro in Class B title game, 53-37

MONROE, LA (WAFB) -

Despite Jarell Martin sitting out 11 minutes in the first half, the Madison Prep Chargers (42-6) still found a way to take down Simsboro 53-37 in the Class B State Championship game.

It's the first state title for the school in its three year existence.

While Martin sat on the bench, both Brandon Sampson and Chad Williams stepped in and provided the scoring for the Chargers.

Williams scored 10 points in the first half. He finished the game with 14 points and 11 rebounds in route to being named the Class B Most Outstanding Player. Sampson knocked a game high 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting.

Madison Prep led 26-19 at the half and pushed its lead to 40-27 after the third quarter. The Chargers shot 7 of 21 from the free throw line.

After going scoreless in the first half, Martin provided some of his 11 points in the third frame including a dunk to make it 34-24. Martin's three pointer at the end of the 3rd quarter gave the Chargers a 13 point lead, their biggest of the night.
