FOX19's investigative team recently
exposed dozens of credit reports most people have never heard of. Now we're
getting word that the ones employers use are preventing some of the most
desperate job seekers from getting hired.
A new study says one in four unemployed Americans is
required to go through a credit check when applying for a new job. For one in
ten, something's in there that caused them to be denied the job, according to
the liberal think tank Demos, which conducted the survey.
LexisNexis
is among the big companies providing these services for employers. Here is the form
you can use to request the information LexisNexis has on you. But there are at
least twelve other companies who provide credit reports and background checks
for employers, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
