OXFORD, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team had a four-game winning streak snapped Tuesday as Ole Miss scratched out a 2-0 win over the Lions at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

Southeastern (8-3) put the lead-off hitter aboard in each of the first three innings, and had a runner on in each of the first six, but couldn't push one across the plate.

Kyle Cedotal, the Lions' starting pitcher, stymied the Ole Miss hitters through three as well. In the fourth, however, the freshman left-hander hit Rebel center fielder Tanner Mathis to open the inning. A sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch moved Mathis to third where, after a one-out walk to Auston Bousfield, he was able to score on Stuart Turner's RBI single.

Ole Miss (12-1) shortstop Austin Anderson led off the sixth with a solo home run to right field for the game's only other run.

Rebel right-hander Josh Laxer (1-0) constantly worked out of trouble in his 5.1 innings of work to earn his first win of the season. Right-hander Brett Huber fanned a pair in a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season. Cedotal (2-2) was the hard-luck loser despite allowing just two runs in five innings of work.

Freshman Mason Klotz and left-hander Matt Pittari combined to pitch three scoreless innings out of the Lion bullpen.

Southeastern wraps up the two-game, mid-week series with Ole Miss Wednesday. First pitch for the matinee game is scheduled for 11 a.m. and it can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9), on the internet through the Southeastern athletics website as well as on the KSLU iPhone and TuneIn Radio apps. Live stats, courtesy of Ole Miss, will also be available. Links to audio and stats are located on the baseball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
