Neighbors at the troubled Brandywine Condominiums in Baton
Rouge have until the end of the month to find another place to live.
The owner of the majority of the units at the complex made a
Monday 5 p.m. deadline and paid $10,000 to the city-parish to get the water reconnected.
Officials had disconnected the water because of an
outstanding sewer bill. The bill was more than $100,000 and is for the entire
complex. Residents of the complex pay rent, and part of that money is used to
pay condo association fees which are meant for utility payments.
The leader of the condo association says the group will not
be able to sustain itself and will have to close Brandywine by the end of the
month.
