BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Some people
in East Baton Rouge and Jefferson parishes will be voting for a new state representative
Saturday.
You are warned
not to show up too early because this is the first election in which voting
hours have changed.
"The hours
of operation at polling locations are 7 [a.m.] to 8 [p.m.], not 6 [a.m.] to 8
[p.m.]," said Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler. "That is something new
that took effect January 1. The federal elections remain the same, but this is
the first election that we'll open up at 7 [a.m.]."
He added
one reason for the change is that very few people were actually showing up to
vote prior to 7 a.m.
