BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities said an 18-year-old has been arrested for a shooting that left another teen dead over a month ago.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Marcus Hamilton of Bayou Vista is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Keyiona Chenevert, 18, also of Bayou Vista.
Hamilton was taken into custody Thursday night.
Detectives said Chenevert was found dead in her apartment on Three B's Lane on Jan. 21. She was shot in the head.
SMPSO said Hamilton was eventually developed as a suspect. The sheriff's office added it is not releasing specific information about the facts of the case in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is ongoing.
Hamilton was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bond has not been set.
