BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
It was a
tearful morning for family and friends of the Honorable Frank J. Polozola.
Many

Polozola
lost his battle with cancer Sunday at the age of 71.
He was
sworn in as a US district judge on May 29, 1980, after having been nominated by
President Jimmy Carter.
He served
as chief judge of the Middle District of Louisiana from September 1, 1998, to
August 31, 2005, and became a senior judge on January 15, 2007.
Prior to
his presidential appointment, Polozola served as part time magistrate judge
from April of 1972 until he was appointed the first full time magistrate judge
for the Middle District of Louisiana in October of 1973.
