MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities said two men and a woman are behind bars after drugs were found during a traffic stop Tuesday evening, which eventually led to more drugs being discovered at the home of two of the suspects.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Brian Derouen, 25, of Bayou Vista; Kilo White, 23, of Patterson; and Katherine Helms, 32, of Bayou Vista around 8:45 p.m.

Narcotics agents patrolling the Morgan City area reported seeing a car make a turn without the driver signaling and pulled it over.

Detectives said they found synthetic marijuana on Derouen, who was driving the vehicle. They reported White had marijuana and meth on him. No drugs were found on Helms during the traffic stop.

Deputies said they obtained a search warrant for the home where Derouen and Helms live and found more synthetic cannibinoids, marijuana and meth. Officials reported the synthetic marijuana has a street value of about $3,180, the marijuana is worth about $1,350 on the street and there was about $700 worth of meth.

Investigators also seized $425 and drug paraphernalia (digital scale and small plastic sealable bags). Authorities added two small children were in the home.

All three suspects were booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bond is set.

Derouen is charged with the following:

Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

Possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute

Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile

Violation of CDS law (drug free zone)

Transactions involving drug proceeds

White faces possession of marijuana (2nd offense), possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and violation of CDS law (drug free zone) charges.

Helms is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a CDS in the presence of a juvenile and violation of CDS law (drug free zone). A picture of her was not available.
