Charges are being dropped against a Marshall, TX teenager who was charged with 1st degree murder in connection to the death of his stepfather.
Police found 39-year-old William Ashley Alford suffering from multiple stab wounds at a house in the 500 block of W. Meredith Street back on January 23rd. He was rushed to Good Shepherd Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. Police took his 14 year old step-son, a Marshall Junior High football player, into custody.
According to Coke Solomon, the Harrison County District Attorney, a grand jury returned the decision and the case will be closed.
It's not known whether the teen acted in self-defense, as the grand jury does not have to provide that information when returning a no true bill, which is legal procedure to dismiss charges against a defendant when the grand jury does not find enough evidence to charge the defendant with violating a law.
