A day after Tyrann Mathieu had a less than stellar performance at the NFL Combine, he bounced back with an official 4.5 40-yard dash letting everyone in attendance know he was serious about a comeback.
The speedy showing was just what he needed after a tough Monday that included just four reps of 225 pounds in the bench press drill, an extremely low total for NFL players.
Mathieu has worked with former LSU and Arizona Cardinals star Patrick Peterson the past couple of months preparing for the Combine.
This morning Peterson tweeted, "@Mathieu_Era isn't done yet, on-field drills is where he will excel!"
NFL Network's Deion Sanders worked out last week with Mathieu and Peterson and he said, "Tyrann Mathieu will be a baller." Sanders also believes the Honey Badger will not be around in the third and fourth round of the draft and will be an every down back.
Mathieu has been out of football for a year after getting kicked off the team at LSU, and at times his work ethic has been called into question. So while indications are that he will be drafted somewhere around the third or fourth round, he definitely helped himself out with Tuesday's performance.
