Poland Spring water bottles may be contaminated

The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services is warning consumers about potentially contaminated water bottles.

The bottles in questions are from Poland Spring.

Some three and five-gallon bottles containing gas residue or fumes have made it through the recycling process.

Health officials are urging people with water bottled since November 1, 2012 to check for possible gas odors before using.

Clean water is odorless and should not have any chemical smell.

After Superstorm Sandy hit the east coast last fall, some residents used water bottles to transport gas.

Poland Spring says it tried to identify all contaminated bottles but some slipped through.
