FLORENCE, AZ (AP) -
An Arizona death-row inmate's hearing before the state's clemency board has been cancelled.
The hearing was scheduled Wednesday at the state prison in Florence for 70-year-old Edward Harold Schad.
Schad is scheduled for a March 6 execution for his conviction for killing 74-year-old Lorimer "Leroy" Grove, of Bisbee, in August 1978.
The reason for the cancellation isn't immediately clear.
Jon Anderson, a lawyer for the Attorney General's Office who represents the state in Schad's case, says Schad's attorney sent an email saying she wasn't going to appear at the hearing, but that he doesn't know why the hearing was cancelled.
Calls to Schad's attorney, Denise Young, weren't immediately returned Wednesday afternoon.
