AGUILA, AZ (CBS5) -

A man whose truck was stolen in northwestern Maricopa County fired warning gunshots in the dark at sheriff's deputies who had found the vehicle, investigators said.

The deputies weren't injured and didn't return fire.

The truck was reported stolen near US 60 and Forepaugh Park Peak Road at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

The truck's owner ignored an order to let deputies handle the search near the community of Aguila early Sunday morning and drove around with two others looking for the truck, said Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Joaquin Enriquez.

Enriquez said the owner initially denied involvement in the shooting and said he saw people running from the truck.

The owner didn't think he was firing at deputies who were about 20 feet away, but his actions were still reckless, Enriquez said.

Three people were arrested - two men and one woman.

Enriquez said the owner eventually admitted to firing the shots and is expected to face charges.

Thanksgiving is about sharing, so we want to share something with you. In 1978, CBS news' "On The Road" segment was hosted by Charles Kuralt. He found a family of 11 in Prairie, Mississippi, all coming home for Thanksgiving. All nine children had memories of a sharecropper's cabin and nothing to wear and nothing to eat. All nine are college graduates.
