BAKER, LA (WAFB) -
A Baker man
was taken into custody on drug and weapons charges after a search of his home
early Friday morning.
The Baker
Police Department said Calvin Stewman even admitted the drugs and guns found in
the home belonged to him.
Police said
they searched the home on Greenwood Lane just before 5 a.m. after getting the
proper warrant and quickly detained four people. Chief Mike Knaps said when he
walked in he could smell raw marijuana.
Knaps said
Stewman told detectives there was marijuana and guns in the home and explained
where in the home they could be found.
Investigators
said they confiscated 16 baggies of marijuana, a silver revolver, a
semi-automatic handgun, two shotguns and four rifles.
Police
reported Stewman said he was selling marijuana and his prescription Hydrocodone
pills to supplement his income. The report added he had only been selling drugs
for a few months.
He was
booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office on charges of
possession of marijuana and illegal carrying of weapons with a controlled
dangerous substance.
