Man killed in Cedar Grove shooting identified

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Authorities have released the name of the man who was fatally wounded in an overnight shooting in south Shreveport.

17-year-old Demarcus Jones was shot in the Cedar Grove neighborhood Thursday night.

Shreveport police say shots were fired around 11:30 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Turner Lane.

Upon officers arrival at the scene, police determined that a Jones was shot in the stomach and had been taken by a private vehicle to Willis-Knighton Pierremont.

Police say Jones was then taken to LSU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and rushed into surgery. Shortly after, he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses to the shooting told police they were standing near the 800 block of Turner Lane when they heard what sounded like a single gunshot followed by the victim screaming that he had been shot.

Police say they have recovered evidence from the home but no arrests have been made.
