Stanley Thomas remembers it well, a horrifying scene in which 24-year old Lindsay Nelson ran out of her rental home on Second Street in Alex City.

"I saw her running out and hollering," Thomas said.

Nelson screamed after realizing her own two-month old infant son had died. That was last May. The results from the autopsy came back a few days ago, and they showed little Camdyn Bolan died from inhaling meth fumes.

"We don't know if they were cooking it or smoking it. We just know the baby was in the house and in that environment," said Luke Sivley, a detective with the Alex City Police Department.

Police arrested Nelson Monday with 'chemical endangerment involving a child.' For Camdyn's paternal grandmother, no words can describe the pain of losing a grandchild.

"He was a little angel and it's sad that a parent has to get involved in an evil drug like that," said Thelma Ford.

Investigators say Lindsay Nelson has not confessed and court records show she has requested an attorney. The Tallapoosa County criminal clerk's office says it has not received the file on Lindsay Nelson, so it's not clear if the court has, in fact, assigned an attorney for Nelson.

Josh Bolan says he dated Nelson and is Camdyn's father. Josh Bolan tells WSFA 12 News he broke it off after learning she was allegedly doing drugs.

"I didn't know what kind of drugs she was doing," said Bolan.

We don't know at this point what Nelson's side of the story is. We do know, according to police, Nelson faces a minimum of 20 years in prison if she's convicted.

Camdyn, meantime, was just days away from turning three-months old.
