BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A literary legend made her return to the LSU campus and there wasn't an empty seat in the house when she arrived.
Maya Angelou made an appearance at the Student Union Theatre Tuesday night and was welcomed by a standing room only crowd.
It was the first visit to the campus by Angelou in 20 years.
She told the crowd she made the 13 hour trip by bus from her home in North Carolina and called LSU a rainbow in the sky.
"I wanted to hear the LSU choir. I mean please come on. It is to my delight," Angelou said. "I wanted to remind you of who you really are and that you're already paid for."
The 83-year-old was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011 by President Obama.
