The LSU Tigers use a six run 8th inning to lift them to an 8-1 win over the Lamar Cardinals at Alex Box Stadium Tuesday night to improve to 4-0.
The Tigers scored those six runs in the bottom of the 8th on only two hits.
Andrew Stevenson and Mason Katz both scored on wild pitches to make it 4-1 Tigers. Chris Sciambra and Mark Laird followed that up with bases-loaded walks to give LSU the 6-1 advantage. Alex Bregman made it 7-1 after a sac fly to score Christian Ibarra. The final run of the night came on an infield single by Stevenson.
The Tigers got their first run on the board to tie the game after JaCoby Jones blasted his second home run of the year. He hit his first homer Sunday in the Tigers 14-3 win over Maryland.
LSU took the 2-1 lead in the sixth inning off a Mason Katz RBI double to right that scored Raph Rhymes.
The LSU pitching staff picked up where it left off from its weekend series against Maryland.
Cody Glenn went five innings, allowing one unearned run, three hits, while striking out five Cardinals. The win went to freshman pitcher Hunter Devall. He went three an inning and a third of hitless baseball with one strikeout.
Nate Fury, Joey Bourgeois, and Chris Cotton finished out the game, as they combined to throw two and two-third innings, allowing two hits and striking out four batters.
The Tigers return to action Thursday night when they host BYU. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aaron Nola will take the mound for the Tigers.
