CLANTON, AL (WBRC) -

While speaking in Clanton Tuesday about Alabama's pre-kindergarten program, Gov. Robert Bentley also addressed the VictoryLand raid that happened today in Macon County.

Bentley said he was told about the VictoryLand raid on Saturday since it involved Alabama State Troopers. The State Troopers assisted the Attorney General's Office in serving a search warrant in response to illegal gambling operations.

Bentley said it is now up to the courts to determine if VictoryLand's gaming machines are legal or not. Attorney General Luther Strange said in a release that "several hundred" gambling machines and an undisclosed amount of cash were taken in the raid.

The governor said he learned today about the lawsuit filed by the Attorney General against the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He said he agrees with Strange that the Poarch Creek Band of Indians shouldn't be allowed to operate gaming machines if others cannot.

The lawsuit filed by the Attorney General seeks to shut down casinos in Atmore, Montgomery and Wetumpka.
