CLARKSVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Police are investigating after a mother of five was shot to death early Monday in Clarksville.
According to police, Lisa McQuirt was visiting her current boyfriend when Ronald Shewmaker showed up at the duplex where she lived in the 600 block of Kenwood Avenue just after 5 a.m. Monday.
McQuirt stepped outside to speak with Shewmaker and police said that is when she was shot four times in the chest.
McQuirt was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. At 9:05 a.m. Clarksville Police Chief Mark Palmer confirmed McQuirt had died.
All four tires on McQuirt's Dodge Charger had been deflated. Police believe that incident is connected to the shooting.
Investigators said Shewmaker fled the scene, but Indiana State Police arrested him later at his Corydon home. He was taken to the Clark County Jail.
