Child, 7, struck after running in front of car

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A child broke his leg after police said he ran in front of a car on Thursday.

Around 5 p.m., a 7-year-old boy was outside in the yard with his parents when the mail carrier delivered the mail. The child ran across Gupton Lane to get the mail and crossed into the path of a Pontiac Sunfire.

The boy was hit by a car driven by a 33-year-old woman.

The child sustained a broken leg and a cut to his face. He was taken by Life Flight to Vanderbilt Medical Center in stable condition.
