MESA, AZ (CBS5) -
A 22-year-old woman was arrested after she fought with police officers trying to remove her from the middle of a busy street in Mesa on Wednesday.
Police said Christine M. Carlos walked into traffic on Country Club Drive about 3 p.m., causing motorists to slam on their brakes and swerve to avoid hitting her.
Officers said she refused their orders to leave the road so they had to carry her back to safety. But instead of cooperating, Carlos kicked an officer several times in the face and upper body, bloodying his lip.
Carlos was earlier found arguing with another person in a nearby business over money and became "belligerent and uncooperative" with officers before walking into the street.
Carlos was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault on a law officer, failure to comply and impeding traffic, according to police.
