Feb. 14th: KSLA News 12 2013 House for Hope Editorial

The 2013 House for Hope is underway.

This marks the 5th year for the House for Hope home giveaway. It's a community service project of KSLA News 12, Community Renewal International and the Homebuilders Association of Northwest Louisiana.

This year the house will be located in Island Park subdivision off of Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport. the home features 3 bed rooms and 2 ½ baths with upscale appliances and finishes.

Of course, the reason we are giving the house away is to raise money for a new Friendship House in the Highland neighborhood of Shreveport.

The Friendship House is a haven for children and their families in low income, high crime neighborhoods.

Chances to win the house in Island Park are $100 each. You can call 425-3222 to reserve your ticket or go to our web site, ksla.com and click on the House for Hope for more information.

I'm James Smith.

State Police Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson needs to address this inexcusable behavior directly and restore the public's confidence. He should be fully transparent in his investigation into the matter and should invite an outside entity to look into the matter.

Be on the lookout for kids. They seem to dart out from everywhere. They are certainly not looking out for you; so please look out for them.
