LUKFATA, OK (KSLA) -

The McCurtain County father and daughter missing since Sunday have been found.

Sheriff Johnny Tadlock says 43-year-old Albert Pieratt and his 9-year-old daughter McKayla showed up at a neighbor's home in Lukfata around 8 Thursday morning.

That's after apparently spending a few days outdoors. Both have been checked out by medics and are said to be doing fine, physically. Albert Pieratt has been placed in an emergency order of detention and a mental evaluation has been ordered. McKayla has been taken into protective custody. Friends tell KSLA News 12 her mother died some time ago.

Family members grew concerned and reported the father and daughter missing on Tuesday, after not hearing from them or being able to get in touch with them for more than 2 days.

McCurtain County Sheriff Johnny Tadlock says there were no signs of forced entry at their Choctaw Street home in Lukfata, a rural community about 3 miles west of Broken Bow, but  Pieratt's truck had been left behind.

That prompted a search, focusing Wednesday on the woods around Lukfata Elementary School, where McKayla attends.

Sheriff Tadlock says no charges are expected at this time. When the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the district attorney's office.

Tadlock says he's just glad they've both been found and are physically healthy. He also thanked KSLA News 12 for helping to get the word out, saying it generated numerous tips.
