SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
A 1-year-old child who fell into a backyard pool in San Tan Valley has died.
The child had been inside the home with her grandmother and wandered out a backdoor that had been left open.
The grandmother discovered the child in the pool and dived in to try to save her. She performed CPR on the child until medical emergency personnel arrived and took over.
The child was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Cardon Children's Hospital in Mesa, where she was pronounced dead.
