HOUMA, LA (WAFB) -
The 67th running of the Krewe of Houmas rolled right on time in Houma Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. The 14 float Krewe was peppered with Marching Bands from as far away as Lake Providence, LA. The Krewe of Kajuns parade immediately followed. Thousands of people lined the parade route screaming for beads, stuffed animals, and cups ready to see two parades.
"I'm down here with my family," says Snipe Johnson a Houma resident. "My fiancé is here, my boy, my cousin, my niece… we're having a fun time out here."
Steven and Liz Ilg live in St. Louis, MO. They drive down every year. This one however is special. It's their 30th time in a row they are here. "We have a brother in Thibodeaux," says Liz Ilg. "We come down every year for the last 30 years now." "Family and Friends," says her husband Steven Ilg. "There's more atmosphere down here. We have a Mardi gras in St. Louis but it can't hold a candle to down here."
The Krewe of Houmas had cleared the starting gate by 12:45 P.M. and the Krewe of Kajuns cleared the starting gate by 3.P.M.
