A Bossier Parish school bus was involved in a wreck Monday afternoon, but there were no serious injuries. Louisiana State Police say they cited the bus driver, Mary Dudley, for following too closely.
It happened on Princeton Road just north of Highway 80 shortly after 3 p.m.
According to Bossier Schools' transportation director, the driver of bus 248 was transporting approximately 38 students from Haughton Middle School. When she topped a hill on Princeton Road, a truck was stopped in the middle of the road at the bottom of the hill. The bus driver applied her brakes and tried to swerve to avoid hitting him, at which time she clipped the truck's back fender. The outside right tires on the bus went off the asphalt and got stuck in the mud.
One student complained of a headache and was transported to Willis Knighton Bossier. No other injuries were reported.
Some parents arrived to take their children home. Another bus was sent to take the rest of the children home.
Louisiana State Police and the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office are on the scene. The investigation continues.
