COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -
A Friday night high school basketball game between Holmes and Highlands
High School took on a special meaning.
Prior to the game, three survivors of
the crash, including Holmes head basketball coach Jason Booher, were honored.
"I lost my best friend and 26 others that night just
because of one person's decision to drink and drive," said Booher.
"You thank the good Lord that you get another day to live because you
never know when the rugs going to pulled out from underneath of you."
A documentary film crew was also
at the game to put the finishing touches on their movie, "Impact."
"We are beyond honored to be
here and to be part of this, and also to give our respects to the deceased and
celebrate the survivors," said Highlands head basketball coach, Mike Flynn.
"I don't think [the players] know now that the school buses they ride on
are so safe because of what happened that night."
The documentary is set
to hit theaters on May 14th, the 25th anniversary of the crash.
