Local firefighters and park rangers went for a rather chilly swim on Friday.
Springfield Township Fire Department and the Hamilton County Park District took part in the annual ice rescue training. The training was held at Parky's Farm on Daly Road.
Firefighters and rangers practiced how to rescue people and animals from freezing waters.
Attendees learned self-rescue and team rescue techniques to prepare for the worst, with cold water suits and a rope system.
Friday's ice rescue training followed a classroom portion on medical issues involving ice and cold water exposure, completed in January.
