CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Jim Neil is the new sheriff in town.

The new Hamilton County Sheriff's Investiture Ceremony was held on Friday afternoon at the Hamilton County Courthouse, a first in 25 years.

Sheriff Neil, along with the Clerk of Courts and a panel of bi-partisan judges attended the ceremony.

State Representative Denise Driehaus presented Neil with Governor's Kasich's commission, and Judge Nadine Allen administered the oath of office.

Neil was elected to replace Simon Leis after he announced his retirement in 2012. It was the first time in 25 years Hamilton County voters had to decide on a sheriff.

Neil officially took over for the retiring sheriff on January 7th.
